Antioxidant Activity of Water-Soluble Chitosan with Cynanchum panniculatum Kitag.

|
This study investigated the antioxidant activity of Cynanchum panniculatum Kitag.. extracts with various extraction time (that is, 9, 18, and 27 hours, respectively) and also with water-soluble chitosan. When extracted more than 18 hours, the total polyphenol contents of the extract were consistent. The total flavonoid contents of the extract were, however, increased with the increase of extraction time. ABTS radical scavenging activity and DPPH radical scavenging activity of the extract were also increased with the increase of extraction time. In the case of extracts of C. panniculatum Kitag., there were no synergistic effects on the ABTS test. As water-soluble chitosan added, there was a rising effect on the DPPH test.
